leftbaseSome guy rang my doorbell tonight, apparently taking some kind of political survey. He knew our names, mine and Jackie's. A few years ago he would have been carrying a clipboard. Now it's an iPad.
He asked me what my single most important issue is in this election season, and my answer was keeping Mitt Romney out of the White House. "I hear you," he said. "I knew you were liberal! The scrub brush gave it away. The scrub brush and the hose." Huh?
The hose is still hooked up to the spigot in front of the house, and there's a small scrub brush on to of the electric meter. So conservatives don't clean things or water plants? I didn't know that!
I told him that women's issues are a heavy driving force to me, and he asked me if I'd heard about something Scott Brown tried to pull, but I didn't know specifically what he was getting at. It was related to women's issues, is all I know. I asked him if it was something that came out in last night's debate, but he laughed and said, "No. There are no facts in the debates."
That's true enough.
We only talked for a minute or two. He seemed contented that I'm going to vote for both Obama and Elizabeth Warren, wished me a nice night, and walked away.
I'm still scratching my head over the scrub brush and hose thing.

While I don't know what that guy was aiming for too when he said you were a liberal because of the scrub brush and the hose...I can say as someone who is a child of conservative parents that my dad waters his plants religiously and my mom does get anal if the house looks messy. And I know plenty of conservatives (mainly, again, some of my relatives on both sides of the family) that do keep their house pick up and water their plants. Besides, my SO is a socialist and he's very messy.
