1. Did the house where you grew up have a newspaper delivered regularly? I vaguely remember a paperboy delivering newspapers to the house we lived in until I was 10 years old. I know there was one delivering to the house we moved to, because it was me!

2. Have you ever subscribed to an actual print newspaper? Yes. When I lived in Hawaii, my roommate and I got the paper delivered to our apartment in Honolulu. When my wife and I lived in our first apartment here in Milford, we subscribed to the local paper and later to the Boston Globe also. Same when we moved into our house, for a few years.

3. When was the most recent time you physically picked up and read a newspaper? Excellent question! Been a while.

4. Do you pay for news online now? Yes. I still subscribe to the Globe online. Recently dropped the Washington Post.

5. Do you have any saved newspaper clippings? My sister recently found a clipping about the science fair my school held when I was in 7th grade. I built a Van De Graaff Generator and won first prize.

A couple of nights ago, Jackie just happened to be up around 2:00 in the morning, and just happened to look out a front window, at the same moment two coyotes just happened to be running down the middle of the street. I guess it's a good thing that it wasn't the night before curbside trash collection.

Here's something I figured out. If you decide to digitize your vinyl record collection and you have upwards of 1,000 albums, a good chunk of your time is going to be occupied for a while. Trust me on this one.

The Philadelphia Eagles won their first ever Superbowl. I'm a New Englander but I'm actually happy for their fans, especially the 99-year-old guy who's been waiting for it to happen since the team's inception.

Neither of us has ever seen one in totality. A total eclipse happened in Hawaii after we didn't live there anymore, and one is going to happen in Nebraska tomorrow but Jackie doesn't live there anymore.

I did get to watch some of the annular eclipse in 1994 through a welder's mask. That was cool. It was probably the only time in my whole life that I got to actually look at the sun.

Tomorrow, I won't get to see it, but I'll for sure remember it. I'll be in the endodontist's chair having root canal work done during the peak. How many people are going to be able to say that?

It seems the future of Livejournal as we know it is in serious doubt. While I can't really say whether or not I'm jumping ship, I just started the process of importing my journal into Dreamwidth. From what I saw, it's going to take a while. I'm at the back of a really long line.

RIP Paul O'Neill.

I'm not feeling quite ready to leave just yet, but I know it's seriously time to get serious about looking for a job.

Last night we had our fourth major snowstorm in as many weeks. With minor ones in between. It was another blizzard that dumped over a foot of snow on top of the six or seven feet we already had.

Good news? We haven't lost power even once. Yet.

Bad news? Another storm is coming Tuesday. I'm starting to worry a little about the roof.

R.I.P. Bob Simon.

The Governor's race here in Massachusetts is going down to the wire. All four referendum questions went opposite to the way I voted. It looks as if my long-term State Senator, whom I voted for, is going to lose to a guy named Fattman.

In New Hampshire, all the news organizations are declaring Jean Shaheen the winner over Scott Brown. Please let it be true. It's also a close race.

Here's my thought about the U.S. Senate. If the Democrats keep control, things aren't going to go so well for them in 2016. If the Republicans take over, which appears to be about to happen, a majority of voters will be so disgusted with them that the Democrats will fare much better in two years. Wishful thinking? Maybe.

Good night and good luck!

For the first time in I have no idea how many years, I filled my car up with gas and paid less than $3.00 per gallon.

I was almost excited to see that someone left me a message here. Didn't read it in the email, was surprised I remembered my password when I logged in, and then found that it was just spam from a now-suspended user who obviously didn't pay attention in English class.

Poked around a little, found that only a couple of my livejournal friends post regularly here, one posts occasionally, and the others post about as often as I do.

Speaking of livejournal, I'm overdue for a backup, always thinking it could vanish any minute without warning. Which is why I even have a dreamwidth account.
