Weighing In

The American Academy of Pediatrics says the benefits of infant male circumcision outweigh the risks. While I'm of course no medical professional, it still seems to me that the reasons they give can be offset in a major way by teaching about personal hygiene and safe sex.
They even say the benefits are not great enough to recommend it be done routinely. See?
As one who was thankfully spared the knife, my recommendation to parents of newborns is Don't Do It. Let the person whose penis it is decide. It's always an option if it ever becomes medically necessary.
That's my thought for the day!

Date: 2012-08-28 12:23 pm (UTC)was talking about the importance of having circucision,
and I couldn't resist saying,
""Is that why no males survived to adulthood until doctors started circumcising baby boys?"
Circumcision is one of the strongest arguments atheists have against Christianity;
there is still a deep-seated feeling that it's necessary to salvation;
regardless of the arguments anyone might give for it,
that's the feeling behind the arguments.
