The Pick

In a way, I'm kind of relieved that Mitt picked Paul Ryan, but now the possibility of him winning is more scary, though hopefully not more likely.

Since Mitt is always pandering to somebody, I thought for sure he'd pick Marco Rubio to pander to Hispanic voters, or Kelly Ayotte or Condoleezza Rice (I know she said she wouldn't do it) to pander to women. It seems to me that this pick is pandering to people who were already going to vote for him anyway, and that's okay with me.

He already has a lock on the racist vote, the homophobe vote, and the islamophobe vote. This is like picking Sarah Palin four years ago, only to a less extreme degree. At best it'll drive away a few moderates, at worst it won't have any effect on the outcome.

That's my wishful thinking for today.

As a moderate (though I prefer to be called a centrist) voter, I decided a long time not to vote for him. Not only is he way too right wing for me, but he comes off as someone who is severely out of touch with things. Plus, I wasn't exactly happy to hear what he did to that gay classmate of his and how he tried to say it was a joke all of these years later. I don't want a bully for a president.

Yeah, that's not what Theodore Roosevelt meant when he said the Presidency
is a bully pulpit.
