Unexpected. Totally.
Jun. 19th, 2007 11:58 pmI was going to write about the turtle I'm pretty sure I helped today, until the doorbell rang.
We're friends with most of our neighbors, but especially with Charlie who lives sort of behind us, and with Paul and Colette next door, and their three children who are now grown and moved out.
Anyway, this evening Colette's sister came over, looking very down-and-out, which is totally not the Eileen that we know, and told us, "Paul's gone."
"What?!"
Yeah, a good friend of ours came home from work a little early today because he wasn't feeling well, lay down on the couch to rest, and didn't realize he was having a heart attack. Colette tried to talk to him a little while later, found him unresponsive, and called 911. It took less than three minutes for the ambulance to show up. They were able to revive him once, but sadly he didn't make it.
He will be missed by many.
There'll be more to say but it's late and my mind's not working too well. Later.
