The Massachusetts legislature finally killed the proposed constitutional amendment to ban same-sex marriage. I didn't want it to pass but in a way I would have liked to see it put on the ballot next year so the people could vote it down, which I like to think they would have done. But then, there's always the chance they wouldn't have. So maybe it's better this way, except now questions are being asked about why nine legislators changed their minds at the last minute.

Some proponents of the ban said that if it went to the ballot and was rejected by the voters, they could live with that. Somehow I doubt it, but that's what they said. The biggest problem I have with the way it was done? Now opponents of same-sex marriage will never, ever, shut the fuck up.

Pardon my language.

They're promising to keep up the fight, but I think (and hope) that this was their last chance.
