Wow. Every time I thought I had an idea about how bad things are in New Orleans, I watched more news and realized how wrong I was. Today, at least, help that should have arrived days ago finally did, so my blood might stop boiling pretty soon. Might.
In Marlborough, there's a street that has lots of stop signs. At one of those intersections was a lemonade stand being run by some young children, for hurricane relief. I stopped and asked how much? Fifty cents. I gave the girl $1.00, said keep the change and I hope you make lots of money for the cause. She said they already had over $200.00. The lemonade was really good, too.
Jerry Lewis has annoyed the hell out of me for decades, but after saying he's going to use the telethon to help the victims of Katrina as well as those of muscular dystrophy, I've decided to respect him a bit more. For a while anyway. Enough so that I'm even going to call and make a pledge.
