Penn State

Today at lunch my boss asked me if I thought the punishment dished out to Penn State was fitting, and I said yes.

Immediately, another guy at the table started with, "No no no it was way too harsh they're punishing the kids why should the kids have to suffer it's not fair to the kids." And so on.

So here's my opinion on the subject. It's precisely because of the kids that I think the punishment was just. They can still play football and they can go to a different college if they want to. The school needed to be made an example of, if you ask me. If any abuse takes place there in the future, or anywhere for that matter, the likelihood of it not being covered up is tremendously increased. And the likelihood of other victims feeling empowered to stop and/or report their own abuse is also tremendously increased.

I don't think it's going to ruin the chances of any future sports stars, but even if it does, that's okay with me. Sorry, players, but stopping even one kid from being victimized is more important than any number of football careers.

That's what I think, anyway.

How about you?
