I made a quick stop at a gas station/convenience store in Chelmsford on the way home. As I was walking toward the building, a huge bird came in for a landing on a ledge on one of the columns that holds up the roof over the pumps. It looked like a hawk, but it was light in color, which doesn't fit my concept of what a hawk looks like close-up. I stopped and looked up at it, and it was looking at me. The distance between us couldn't have been more than ten feet. I said hello to it, then continued on into the building. I asked they guy working there if he knew what kind of a bird it was. He looked out the window, but all he could say was "Oooh! That's a big one!"
