Writer's Block: A stroll down memory lane

Having known so many people with one form of dementia or another, I think this is a hard question to read, let alone answer. One, and then both, of these alternatives is a reality for them.
And "them" will likely include me some day.
Either one would be awful, but if I had to choose, I think I'd rather lose all of my old memories. I have a much stronger tendency to look to the future than to the past.
