It's a Mystery!
May. 9th, 2011 11:36 pmI should really refer to the water feature behind the house as the "fountain" rather than the fountain. There's nothing decorative about it. It's just a hard rubber tub buried in the ground, and it has a pump with a tube that throws the water only a few inches above the surface to make a splashing sound. It's designed to be heard, not seen.
To keep it full, you have to add some water to it once or twice a week. I filled it to the brim last Tuesday.
Wednesday when I came home from work, Jackie was out somewhere with one of her friends so it was really quiet in the house, and there was a loud hum but no water sound coming through the kitchen windows, so I went out to check it and the "fountain" was almost completely empty. Of course I assumed there was a leak in the tub. I pulled the plug and filled it about half way.
Thursday it was still half full. Friday it was still half full. Saturday it was still half full, so I filled it the rest of the way and plugged it back in. It's Monday and now it's only down about three inches, which seems typical for that much time.
I know it's not really a big deal, but don't you just wonder where that water went?
