A semi-famous singer had just effectively graduated from 'singer' to 'singer-songwriter' and was playing the guitar and singing the song she had just written, her first ever. I don't know how, but somehow I knew she felt it would also be the only one she'd ever write. I don't know if the song was something I'd heard in my awake life or if my subconscious mind made it up, but the melody and lyrics were both beautiful. It may have been a composite of music I've really heard, because I don't think my mind is that talented.

I also don't know who the singer was, or if she was partly real or completely made up. I was listening to Natalia Zukerman shortly before I went to bed, but she is a songwriter, so I don't think it was she.

Anyway, I passed in front of her while she was singing the song, but as the distance between us grew the sound volume stayed the same. All the while I was listening to her, I was clearing ice off of a sidewalk, but in some places it was too thick to break. The sidewalk, instead of being next to a road, ran alongside a beach. I tried to be careful not to shovel the broken ice into the water. The singer was sitting on the ground on the opposite side from the beach, and seemed to be oblivious to my presence.

I want that song in my iTunes!
