A few Election Eve thoughts...
Nov. 3rd, 2008 10:12 pmI think the California constitution should be amended so it isn't so easy to amend. Here in Massachusetts, the process takes at least two or three years. A proposed amendment has to be voted on and passed by the legislators in two successive sessions before it even gets to the ballot. It gives people plenty of time to think about things before acting. In California, it seems the constitution can be amended at the whim of anybody with enough determination. And money.
Unless Prop 8 fails, in which case the process is just fine as it is. :)
If I could vote in any other states, I'd vote NO on Proposition 8 in California, and I'd vote that New Hampshire political ads can't be seen anywhere but in New Hampshire. Anybody in Massachusetts who's reading this knows exactly what I mean, I'll bet.
Big surprise! Reverend Wright has reappeared in Republican ads. At first I wondered why we were seeing them here in a state where McCain is sure he has no chance, then I figured they're really directed at New Hamphsire. Boston has far-reaching television stations, I guess.
I'm really glad this most bizarre election season is almost over, but also really nervous about the outcome. Sarah Palin, you know?
Please get out there and vote, everybody, if you haven't already. Best of luck to all of us!
