The third Monday in April
Apr. 18th, 2006 03:28 pmIt seems that Patriots Day is a holiday only in Massachusetts, but to most of us it isn't really, because we have to work anyway. That must be why everybody calls it Marathon Monday instead.
A friend of ours ran in the Boston Marathon yesterday to raise money for the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, in memory of her mom who died of cancer last year. Her official time was 4:54:59 and I'm very proud of her.
My long-held belief that marathon runners are masochists is rapidly changing. Not so much that I'm planning on doing it myself or anything anytime soon, but I won't say I'll never do it. I'm starting to think about it, is all.
