Olympics

I used to like watching the olympics but for some reason I've had almost no interest in them this time around. Someone once told me she thought they were the biggest waste of money because they're nothing but a bunch of jocks getting together to show off. I thought I still believed in the so-called olympic spirit, but maybe I'm starting to come around to that way of thinking. There are bigger wastes of money, though.

The only things I really wanted to see were the U.S. women's hockey team winning the gold medal, which they didn't, and Lindsey Jacobellis winning the gold in snowboard cross, which she didn't. And if I'm sick of seeing the word 'flub' just imagine how she must feel about it.

Some of the things that bother me: The new figure skating rules suck. The olympic flame uses 6,000 cubic feet of natural gas every hour. The 2008 summer olympics will be held in fucking China. Oh yeah, that's a country that knows what the 'olympic spirit' is all about. If Bode Miller really could have won four medals by now, as he claims, then why the fuck didn't he?

Oh, well. Maybe the closing ceremony will be good.
