Actually, I knew her when I was a volunteer with the Boston Computer Society and she had started her first company, Bright Ideas. Her bright idea was to market educational software directly to parents in tupperware party-like settings, and one of the last things I ever read about that company was that it had become a million-dollar business. Pretty cool, huh?
She helped us out by donating software to the BCS to be given out as prizes to winners of our annual kids event, CompuFest (I was in charge of soliciting the prizes; my unofficial title was Prize Weasel), and I like to think we helped her out with plenty of publicity.
The BCS folded and we lost touch. I'd been wondering what happened to Bright Ideas, and now I know she sold it to Addison-Wesley in 1996. She now has this new company, and I'm really glad, and not at all surprised, to see that she's still doing well.
Here is her story.
