Here's a compromise (some might call it a sacrifice) I think I'd be willing to make, if I were a senator. In exchange for not bringing the energy bill up for a vote, I'd agree to an end to filibustering judicial nominees. Not that I'd have any real power to do that - the republicans have the right to end filibusters for judicial nominees anyway - but I'd stop trying to fight them on it.
Then I'd hope like hell that none of the judges in question ever get nominated to the supreme court. But the thing is, some kinds of damage can eventually be reversed, and some can't.
