Defrocked priest Paul Shanley was given a 12 to 15 year sentence for child rape. He'll be eligible for parole in eight years, when he'll be 82, which might mean he really got the life sentence the victim and his family and I'm sure plenty of other people were hoping for. Prison, I have no doubt, is not a very fun place to be no matter what you're in for, but from what I know, it's absolutely the worst for child rapists. Too fucking bad.
It's only partial justice because the archbishop who moved him from parish to parish knowing full well that he was molesting children has a cushy job in Rome now, when he really should be his cellmate.
That's what I think, anyway.
I also read today that the daughter of Alan Keyes is a lesbian and is speaking out on the subject. Good for her! Growing up in that household must have been hell for her. Thankfully she didn't commit suicide or anything, as far too many gay children of homophobic parents do.
