My View

Home today because it's a holiday. This morning I stepped into the family room and The View was on the tv, and Whoopi Goldberg was defending Chris Brown. It's been three years and he's apologized numerous times and Rihanna has forgiven him and such.

Sorry, but I'm having a hard time with that.

I used to like Whoopi, and then came the defense of Roman Polanski. Drugging and raping a teen-aged girl wasn't a big deal because it wasn't rape rape. Whatever that means.

Once a wife beater, always a wife beater. Once a rapist, always a rapist.

Try to convince me otherwise.

OMG, that whole thing with Roman Polanski pissed me off like you wouldn't believe (I did rant about it). I just couldn't believe how many people, especially in the entertainment industry, defended him. "Oh, it happened thirty years ago.", "She doesn't want anything to happen to him", and like you said "It wasn't rape because he didn't held her down or anything." SERIOUSLY!?!??!?!?!?

Okay, with the first excuse "It happened thirty years ago" (or however long was the time period)...first of all, would these same people use the same defense if someone else had raped this girl? I don't think so. The fact that Roman Polanski has made "good films" seems to be the reason so many people...especially in the entertainment industry...defended him because these people have it in their heads that celebrities are above the fucking law and can do whatever they want when they should be punished the same way as anyone else who would commit the same crime. Also, would these people still feel like Roman should get off if he had...I don't know...murdered the girl? I mean...some people who have murdered their victims did it years to decades prior to when they get caught and convicted.

With the second excuse...this woman probably felt pressured into saying she doesn't want anything to happen to him for a few reasons. One, she's been dealing with this charade since she was thirteen and it most likely fed up with it. Two, she has probably lost a lot of privacy because reporters keep bugging her. Three, she's probably been slammed a lot of people because she dared call out a film maker's actions of violating her...especially considering how pro-victim blaming our society is.

Wow...sorry if I turned this into a rant. Bottom line: I agree with you

It would be alright if I don't try to convince you otherwise, right?
