One of the license plate lights on my car burned out, after more than nine years of having the thing. I don't like buying anything at Walmart, but it's the only place that always has any car light I ever need, no matter what light or which car. So I went there, and they had what I needed, packaged as a pair. Less than $2.00.

As expected, it wasn't obvious how to change them. So when I got home I pulled the manual out of the glove box, found license plate lights in the index, found the page it directed me to, where it read something like, "If either license plate light stops working, see your dealer. Do not attempt to change the bulb yourself. You may damage the vehicle."

Well okay then. Of course I had to at least look anyway. I opened the trunk and pulled down the cloth on both sides of the latch, and I could disconnect the wires to the lights, but I couldn't see how to get at the bulbs themselves, so I didn't try. My hands were too big to fit in there, besides. I closed everything back up.

My auto repair shop guy is pretty sure he can change them without breaking anything, so I'm going there this Friday. He'll charge less than the dealer, no doubt, and he'll use the bulbs I already have.
